The Herschel Programme for Women in Technical Leadership is a national initiative hosted by the UK Institute for Technical Skills and Strategy. This inspiring programme is designed to elevate and empower women in technical roles across the UK.
Hear first hand from our technicians who have taken part in this:
Lorna, Senior Chief Teaching Technician
Over six months, I engaged in four dynamic online modules, collaborated with peers through, 'Action Learning Sets' and attended a powerful closing ceremony in Birmingham. Highlights for me, included a message during the online launch event, from Helen Sharman CMG OBE, the first British astronaut and practical workshops on leadership, negotiation, and team culture.
The experience has had a tangible impact on my professional development. I’ve gained confidence, enhanced my conflict resolution skills, and begun implementing new strategies within my team, including developing a team charter and improving communication streams.
I highly recommend this programme to other aspiring, female technical leaders. It’s a transformative journey that offers practical tools, inspiration, and access to a vibrant network of professionals.
